A QUAKEIi’S LETTER. (From the Weekly Dispatch). The following original letter has been banded to us-for publication Cocked Hat, Breadalbane, 18th of the Btb month, 1856. To- Swaw, I herewith send thee rny pocket clock, which greatly slandet ii in need of thy, friendly correction. The last time he was at thy friendly school he was in no ways reformed, nor in the least benefilted thereby, for I perceive by the index pf his mind that He Is a liar, and tlio truth is not in him ; that his motions are wavering and irregular ; that his pulse is sometimes slow, which betokenelh not an even temper j at other times he waxeth sluggish, notwithstanding I frequently urge him ; whenj he should, bo on his duty, as thou kno west his usual name deuoteth I find him slumbering, or, as the vanity of human reason phrases it,-1 catch him napping. Examine him. therefore, and prove him, I beseech thee, thoroughly, t hat thou mayest being well acquainted with his inward fraiue and disposition draw him from the error of—his way and show him the path wherein he should go. It grieves me to think, and when I ponder thereon I am verily of opinion that his body is foul and the whole mass is corrupted. Cleanse him, therefore, with thy charming pbisie, from all polution, that he may vibrate and circulate according to the truth. 1 will place him in a few days under thy care, and pay for his board as thou requirest. I entreat thee, f. i*ud Swan, to demean thyself On this occasion with judgment, according to the gift which is in thee, and prove thyself a workman. And, when thou layest they correcting hand upon him let it be without passion, lest thou should drive him to destruction. Do though regulate his motion for a time to come by the motion of light that ruled the day, and when thou findest him converted from the error of his ways, and more conformable to the above-mentioned rules, then do thou return him to me with a just bill of charges drawn out in the spirit of moderation, and I will pay thee in the root of all evil.
