LECTION NOTICE ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF THE TOWN OF NAPIER. In Pursuance of an Act of the, General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” I, John Curling, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the Town of Napier, in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, do hereby give notice that, by virtue of a Writ bearing date the fourth day of May, 1865, issued under the hand of his Honor the Superintendent of the said Province, an election wiil be held for the return of two qualified persons to serve as members of the Provincial Council of the said Province for the said Electoral District of the Town of Napier, in consequence of the resignations by J. A. Smith, Esq., and M. Fitzgerald, Esq., of their seats in the said Provincial Counci for the said Electoral District; and that the nomi nation of candidates will take place at the Provincial Governmentßuildings, Napier, on MONDAY, the fifteenth day of May, 1865; and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken on TUESDAY, the 16th day of May, 1865, and the state of the Poll declared at tne termination thereof. Gentlemen, — Several of your number having asked me to become a Candidate! or your suffrages to represent the town in the Provincial Council, and an opportunity for so doing having now arrived, by the resignation of Mr M. Fitzgerald, I have much pleasure in acceding. If you do me the honor of returning me, I will use my best endeavor for the general good of the Province, binding myself to no party.
