In Pursuance of an Act. of the General As sembly of New Zealand, intituled ,“The Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” I, John Curling, Esquire, R-turning Officer for the Electoral District of the Town of Napier, in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, do hereby give notice that, by virtue of a Writ bearing date the fourth day of May, 1865, issued under the hand of his Honor the Superintendent of the said Province, an election will bo held for the return of two qualified persons to serve as members of the Provincial Council of the said Province for the said Electoral District of the Town of Napier, in consequence of the resignations by J- A. Smith, Esq., and M. Fitzgerald Esq., of their scats in the said Provincial Council for the said Electoral District; and that the nomination of candidates will lake place at the Provincial Government Buildings, Napier, on MONDAY', the fifteenth day of May, 1865; and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken on TUESDAY, the 16lli day of May, 1865, and the state of the Poll declared at tne termination thereof.
