WELLINGTON.
(From the Advertiser .) 'Vaxtiable Ihpobtation:-— The s.s. Airedale had on board about fifty sheep for Napier, the property of Mr John Harding, of that province, which -will prove a valuable addition to the stock of the country. Mr Harding recently proceeded to Australia for the purpose of selecting a superior class of sheep for the improvement of his flocks, and at Melbourne, although he had to contend against the flock-owners, he succeeded in purchasing at auction eight rams and three ewes from the celebrated Negretti stock of Baron Earl Voa Schotson, and fifty rams direct from George the*Third’s flock. The sheep have arrived in excellent condition, and we heartily wish Mr Harding success'in his enterprise..
~ Latest from Wakganth.—By the arrival of H.M.&.S. Esk, and the overland mail this morning, we have later advices from Wanganui, but everything there appears to bo as quiet as at any other part of the colony. There Is no war news—no contemplated military or - native movements spoken of—and nothing even of ordinary interest from the seat of war. Great complaints reach us regarding the hardships of militia duties, but we presume the “ active prosecution of the war” necessitates their being kept on duty, otherwise, no doubt, General Cameron would recommend that they should be disbanded.
