Launch. —Yesterday morning a fine fore-and-aft schoone was launched from tho ship-building yard of dir Grant, at Holme Bay. When the ways were knocked away the vessel glided steadily into the water, and was named the Kate Grant, Sirs. Grant christening her with the usual ceremony of breaking a bottle of wine on her bows as she left the stocks. The Kate Grant is owned by Mr. Grant, and wilj probably be ready for sea in about a fortnight. Her d:mensions are: —Length of keel, 51 feet; breadth of beam. 17 feet; and depth of hold, 7 feet. She is a smart looking craft, and will prove a valuable addition to our coasting fleet. —Daily Southern Cross, Fob. 15. Arrival or tut. Tararua at Melbourne. — The Melbourne Apr of January 20 says—” This fine steamship, the latest addition tothe Panama, New Zealand, and Australian Company’s fleet, anchored in Uobsous’s Bay at nine o’clock yesterday morning. The Tararua is a now steamer of S3O tons. She was built by Gourley Brothers, at Dundee, and her engines are by tho same Arm. She is a fine-looking vessel, has a full poop, winch contains a very elegant saloon and ladies’ eahiu, fitted with every modern improvement for the convenience of passengers. Of these she can accommodate fifty first-class and about’tho same number in her second cabin. ftcr discharging her Mel bourne portion of the cargo, she will proceed to Sydney and New Zealand.
