WELLINGTON.

Departure of the Troops foe Wangahui.— The remainder of the officers and men of the 2nd battalion of the 14th Regiment, under the command of Colonel Dwyer, took their departure for Wanganui lust evening, in accordance with the orders forwarded- by General Cameron by the last mail. Shortly after five o’clock the men were fallen in at Monnt Cook Barracks, and, headed by a drum and fife band, which played all sorts of soul-stirring martial music in a very disjointed manner, and accompanied by a largo concourse of people, they marched fully equipped to the wharf, and embarked on board the steamer. Probably the prospect of shortly meeting the enemy may have made the soldiers grieve but slightly at their departure. Certain it is, however, that they all appeared to be in excellent spirits, and sighed little when parting with their relations, friends, or' .associates. Boisterous cheering, sftatches of songs, crying, shouting, and other similar demonstrations of sorrow or of joy appeared to be the order of the day, and with the large proportion of her living freight in a very comfortable condition, the s.s. Wanganui hauled olf from the wharf, and left for the seat of war shortly after eight o’clock, amidst the cheers of both civilians and military. We understand that these men will be forwarded on their arrival at Wafiganui to a place called Patea, an advanced post which General Cameron is anxious to have strongly garrisoned —New Zealand Advertiser, Feb. 4.
