CANTERBURY RACES.
Want of space has hitherto prevented our giving a report of this interesting meeting, and even now wc are only able to afford room for the most condensed account.) of the affair. These races commenced on Tuesday, 17th January, and extended over three days. The results oLthe first day may be briefly given as follows:—.
First Day.—maiden plate. Mr C. Hatfield’s b.c. Elswick, 4 years 1 Mr Lance’s ch. g. Egromonf, 3 years 2 Mr F. Wentworth’s b.m. Fleur de Lys, 4 yrs. 3 LOTTERY PLATE. Mr H. H. Stafford’s r.m. Regina, 4 years 1 Mr A. W. Money’s br. g. Rob Roy, aged 2 There were three heats in this race. Rob Roy won the first; Regina the second ; in the third and concluding heat, Mr. Stafford’s mare came in an easy winner. CHAMPION EACE. Mr Lance’s eh. m. Lady Bird, 6 years 1 Mr Lance’s ch. f.
