AUCKLAND. The sale of Mr John Campbell’s choice and valuable farming stock took place yesterday, at his private residence, Shelly Beach, the whole of the stock having been removed from his farm to this place for the conve mence of purchasers. MssstS Hunter and Co. were the auctioneers. Mr Campbell’s stock was much celebrated, and it was therefore no great surprise to see so many intending purchasers present yesterday. At 12 o’clock an excellent champagne luncheon was provided, and iramediamly attorwards the sale commenced. The bidding throughout was remarkably brisk, and the prices obtained were very satisfactory. Three heaw Clydesdale mares, with foals by Nugget, fetched £59, £SB, and £if) eacu. One four-year-old heavy Clydesdale mare fetched £57, and a three-year-old £56. Tor the next lot, a pair or cream-coloured pony mares, there was some spirited bidding; they were ultimately bought for £53. A vearhng filly by Harold, brought £H. About fifty hand-fed neirers, from eighteen mouths to three years old, averaged £/ 1&S each; and about thirty hand-fed steers averaged £6 each The next lot offered was 300 sheep, which were • m t ’ v ,° of tl;e best Leicester rams, belonging to MrGngg; and two of the best Oxford Down rams, belonging to Mr Buckland. The whole averaged abo «t 22s 6d eaca. Four well-bred rams were disposed of at 10s each.
