Since our last report we have to note an improvement in the state of the Napier trade, consequent upon the change of weather. Shearing has progressed rapidly; large quantities of wool has arrived in town, and the merchants are full of business for the time. .Mr V. JaniscU held an auction sale of general merchandise on Wednesday, when the attendance was better than has latterly been the case, and satisfactory prices were obtained for goods. We quote—Old tom, 12s; geneva, 10s (id; sherry, 7s9d; whisky, 3s 6d; boots (damaged), 3s 6d per pair; tobacco. Is 9d to 3s 3d; cigars, per 1000, 16s 6d; Scotch confectionery, Is 3d per lb; men’s merino shirts, 28s to 35s per doz ; lambswool shirts, 32s to 37s per doz; men’s merino hose, 13s to 15s 6d; Scotch pants, 345; Port Cooper cheese, Is Id per lb; thumb blue, d|d; candles, Belmont, Is Id to Is 2d; light weights, Cd 0)d; salad oil, pints, 12s 6d: cotton hose, 3s to 4s 3d per doz; ladies’ cashmere boots, 4s 3d; ditto kid ditto, 6s 3d: men’s bluchers, ss; large size "boys, 5s 6d; black bullock Fluents, £9 16s,
