PORANGAHAU RACES.
Amongst the sports provided for the amusement of the pleasure-loving folk at this festive season, those provided for the inhabitants of the southern part of the province hold a prominent position ; we allude to the race meeting held at Porangahau on the 28th ult, which proved to be one of the most successful and satisfactory meet - ings that has taken place in the district. We subjoin a brief resume of the day’s sport for the information of our friends:— The Fikst Race, for £lO, by entrances of 10s each, to be added to the Consolation Stakes.
