ARRIVAL OF THE “QUEEN.”

By the s.s. Queen, from Wellington and southern provinces, which arrived this morning, we have files from Wellington to the 3rd inst., strange to say, we have not received the sth. There is no news of special importance.

A large fire has occurred in Wellington, particulars of which will be found below.

The Lyster Opera Company has arrived in Wellington. A public meeting took place on the 27th ult, for the purpose of hearing Mr. Masters give “an exposition of his political principles respecting the forthcoming election for the Superintendency,” which he intends contesting.

Meetings were being held in the Southern Provinces to consider the present state of political affairs.
