The paddle steamer Ballaarat, which at one time was supposed to have become a total wreck at Mahia Peninsula, has been safely beached in Freeman’s Bay. She loft Napier on the 26th inst., in command of Captain Turner, and in consequence of a strong westerly wind prevailing on Saturday last she pul in at Hicks’ Bay, where she took shelter until Monday evening, when steam was again got up, and she proceeded on her passage to this port, arriving hero early yesterday morning. TVe understand that the damage sustained to her is but trifling. Her engines are to be thoroughly overhauled by Messrs. Vickery and Masefield, and in a short time she may bo expected to bo in working order again.
