To the Editor of the Hawke's Bay Times.

Sib, —I would suggest to the colonists of New Zealand that a petition be got up to her Majesty the Queen, for the recal of Sir G. Grey. I am sure it would be numerously signed, and, I believe, acted upon. It is the most feasible way I can see of ending the Maori difficulty. Yours, truly, A WOULD-BE PETITIONER. Napier, Oct. 25, 1864. PE.—I see this has been suggested in the Auckland and Taranaki papers, and I hope sucli a desirable course will be adopted.
