LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.

Anniversary Holidays. To-morrow (Tuesday,) and Wednesday, will be kept as holidays to commemorate the separation of this Province from that of Wellington. On the first day there will be a Cricket Match, and Rifle Shooting, and on the second Rural Sports. Thatcher performs in the evening of both days. Many of the town people, however, will no doubt take a trip in the country, should the weather be favorable.

Thatcher again gave entertainments on Friday and Saturday evenings last, the house on the latter occasion being a bumper. Madame Yitelli sang “ The Mocking Bird,” Riflemen I'orm,” “Sweet Spirit hear my prayer, and several other popular pieces, which were rapturously received. Thatcher came out with new locals entitled “ The Bazaar,” “ Town Improvements,” “ The Rival Butchers,” and “The Militia Officers,” which were long and loudly encored. Small, who is quite a genius in the comic line, convulsed the audience with “ Buy my peas,” “An ’orrid tale,” “ Hamlet,” and a host, of others, receiving thundering encores. The performance on Saturday was diversified by local talent, Mr. Robottom and son playing in two or three pieces in their usual creditable manner. Violent Outrage. —We have heard that Mr. Miller of Sbakespeare-road was seriously assaulted by a soldier with a stick on Saturday night last, and that his face is much cut and bruised. We have not yet heard all the P&J. Lieuiars out they will no doubt come out at the Resident Magistrates Court.
