RUMORED ATROCIOUS CONDUCT AT WAIPAWA.

MAN SUPPOSED TO BE SCALDED AND BURNT TO DEATH. Reports have been very prevalent in town during the last day or two of a policeman of the name of Boyle (a near relative of Mr. Wood, the proprietor of the Herald) having been at least burnt, if not also scalded, to death by some persons at a public house at Waipawa. In the absence of Sergt. Scully, who, we understand, has proceeded to the spot, we refrain from giving the particulars which have reached us, with a hope that they may prove incorrect.
