Appointments.—The following appointments are notified in the Neiv Zealand Gazette of the Ist inst.—Walter Hippolyte Pilliet, Esq., J.P., to be a Resident Magistrate.—John Nathaniel Wilson, Esq., of Napier, to be a Crown Solicitor.— J. A. Smith, Esq., Hawke’s Bay, to be an Enumerator under the Census Acts.—James Frazer to bo Captain in the Napier Militia. Date of Commission, Bth August, 1864.—Arthur Tuke to bo Cornet in the Napier Cavalry Volunteers. Date of Commission, 10th August, 1864.—William Marshall to be Postmaster at Clive, from Ist July, 1864, vice F. A. Lincoln, resigned.—John Jude Taylor to be Postmaster at Poka Pcka, from Ist July, 1864, vice G. M. Gray, resigned. Consequent, we presume, on Mr. Smith’s appointment, a vacancy occurs in the town representation ; and the working classes of Napier have now a chance to elect a member who will really represent them.
