An inquisitive correspondent wants to know how on earth we manage -to keep this paper going in opposition to the Government, supported as that Government is supposed to be by all classes. Refnarkable incident in the historj of newspapers or the effects of opposition. The truth is that therein lies the cream of our cocoa-nut —the Government is our largest contributor. Every publishing day a Government officer comes in disguise with a wheelbarrow and carries_away an immense quantity of un-
sold numbers. The fact is,“i that the more we print, the greater the Governmental mand for the article. The reason is obvious. We don’t know and we*clon’t care what becomes of the papers.
