CORRESPONDENCE.

To the 'Editor of the Eatvke's Bay Times. Mr. Editor, — Sie, —I will again trouble you with a few remarks on Education. The importance and general interest of the subject will,‘l trust, be a sufficient excuse for doing so. The Superintendent, in reply to Mr. Eichardson’s question as to “ whether it was the intention of the Government to introduce this session any measure relative to Education,” said “ What was required here more than legislation, was that the people should take a deeper interest in the question of Education.” I presume that his Honor, in speaking of “ the people,” refers to the working classes. Doubtless, Mr. Editor, the people ought to take a deeper interest in this and other questions affecting their welfare. But the question might be pertinently asked, What interest has the numerous fraternity of J.P’s. and E.M’s.’ &c., hitherto evinced in this or any subject relative to the elevation of the working classes ? His Honor ought to know that the people naturally expect that these gentlemen should take the lead in such matters. Trusting, Mr. Editor, that all will lend their influence in forwarding so desirable a measure as the education of youth, thereby promoting the truest interests of civilization and advancement, I am, sir, Yours, &c., B. B. D. Inland District, July 27.
