LATEST FROM WANGANUI.

By the Queen, -which arrived yesterday morning, we have news from Wanganui to the 10th instant. The races went oif very satisfactory with the exception of the accidents noticed below. The Produce Plate was won by Mr. Musson’s Young Glaucus; the Scurry Stakes by Mr. Mussen’s Rob Roy ; the Stock Horse Race by Capt. Daniel’s Duodecimo ; and the Ladies’ Purse by Mr. Cameron’s Volunteer. On the second day Volunteer won the Hurdle Race, Mr. Wicksteeed’s Rifleman the Licensed Victualler’s Cup; and Volunteer won both the Volunteer and Welter stakes. The Consolation Stakes was won by Mr. J. Walker’s Lochleven. Mr. Mussen’s Black Doctor, a horse recently imported from Canterbury, cut but a poor figure in all the races for which he was entered. Accidents. —Besides those mentioned elsewhere, one or two accidents occurred on the race ground, the most serious of which was a collision of two horses running in opposite directions, which was so severe that they both died within an hour. The rider and owner of the one, Mr. Crawley was uninjured. The rider of the other a'lad of the name of Collopy in the employment of Mr. C. Nioholls, to whom tho horse belonged, had the small bone of one of his arms broken and one of his legs severely cut j but, we are happy to say, ho is now able to bQghout.— Chronicle, March 10.
