AUCKLAND. LIVE STOCK MARKET.—Week ending Mabch 4, Mr. Buckland's lieport. At the Haymarket, on Saturday last, there •was an unusual large number of draught horses, many of them of a superior quality. But during the past week the Government purchases have relieved the market, and better prices may again be anticipated. At Otahuhu the supply of cattle was less than usual, but fully equal to the demand, those brought forward being difficult of sale at from 40s to 60s each under the prices that ruled a month since. Merino wethers brought 20s each. At Newmarket, the prices for the dairy cows, in proportion to their condition, was extremely good cows bringing from £lB to £25 each. Store cattle were almost unsaleable. An average market of fat cattle barely maintained last week’s rate,

and'several were withdrawn. During the week the cargo of the Mary Agnes , from Twofold Bay, were sold at £9, that of the Lindsay, at £ll, and those by the Marion , at £lO each. The sheep market is freely supplied with I *. Merino wethers, and prices show a downwasd tendency; those brought by the Anrifera bringing 175., and those by the Marion , 16s. each. Balance of Napier wethers, ex Hangatira, brought 225. 6d. to 265. 6d. T’at Leicester sheep, 365. toJ4ss. each. Half-bred sheep, from Wanganui, 265, to 255., averaging 28s, each.
