The Otago Witness of the 23rd instant publishes an extract from a letter received by Mr. Bell from Mr. Crosbie Ward, in which it is stated that the “ Inter-Colonial Company had taken the contract, for the Panama route, and were setting about carrying it out.” Pleuro-Pneuraonia has broken out in Southland, and in the districts of Waikouaiti and East Taeri, in the Province of Otago.
