WELLINGTON.

Otaki. —We have received a private letter from Otaki, corroborative of the intelligence sent by our own correspondent on Saturday. The writer says : —Native affairs hero seem to be assuming a rather gloomy aspect I have just heal'd that \Vi Tako and his followers, in expectation of the Defence Force being stationed at Pahautanui, have resolved to proceed to Bangitikei and hoist the King flag there. The flagstaff at Otaki they intend to burn down. During Christmas several of the rebels who have been engaged in the Waikato war paid us a visit. Some I know well, and one of them who has a wound in his mouth, was, I understand, engaged in the murder of Mr. Armytage. — Independent, Jan. 5.
