IN pursuance of the provisions of an-Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Provmcia! Elections Act, 1858,” I, John Curling, Esq., Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the Town of Napier, Do hereby give' notice that by virtue of a writ bearing date the 24th December, 1863, issued under the hand of His Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Hawke s Bay, an Election will be held for the return of one qualified person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay for the 8 V 1 'I'U District, in consequence of the seat ot I nomas Hitchings, Esq,, in the said Provincial Council lor the Town of Napier having become vacant; and that the nomination of Candidates will take place at Noon, at the Council Chamber on Monday, the 11th of January, 1864, and that the Poll (if necessary) will take place on Tuesday the 12th of January, 1864, and that I will declare the state of the Poll at the close thereof.
