The Lord Ashley, which came up on Sunday morning from the South, brought with her 21 volunteers from Dunedin, part of a large company which had started in a small coaster, and had put back through stress of weather. The men were landed yesterday morning, and were marched direct to Otahuhu. The Lord Ashley also brought up eight hundred sheep, in fit condition for the butcher, and the carcasess of several fine beasts from Napier. A trade in the carcases of ready slaughtered bullocks might be carried on by the aid of steam between the two provinces.— New Zealand Herald, Dec. 1.
