Pat of Militia Officers. —ln Die House of Representatives on the 24th inst., Mr. Carter asked the hon. Minister for Colonial Defence, “If it is correct that Militia Officers receive payment for every day they aro called out, while privates are paid only for the day on which they are on drill ?” Mr. Russell replied that by a mistake this had been done in Wellington, contrary to the rule laid down by Government, and carried out in Auckland, to pay officers only for days when training and exercise actually took place. The error bad now been rectified.
