Vote of Thanks to General Cameron and the Forces.— ln the House of Representatives, on the Ist inst., Mr. Fox moved the following Resolutions, which were put and carried unanimously : That the thanks of this House be presented to Lieutenant-General Cameron, C. 8., commanding her Majesty’s Forces in New Zealand, for the energy and ability with which he has conducted the military operations in New Zealand, and especially for the decisive defeat of the rebels at Rangiriri.
Hint the thanks of this House be given to the officers of her Majesty’s army for their zeal and gallantry, and to the non-commissioned officers and soldiers for the discipline and valor they have displayed in the military operations in which they have been engaged, and especially at the assault and taking of Rangiriri. lhat the Speaker do communicate these resolutions to Lieutenant-General Cameron, and that he be requested to signify the same to the officers and soldiers under his command.
that the thanks of tiiis House be given to Commodore Sir William Wiseman, and the officers, seamen, and marines under his command, for their indefatigable cooperation with her Majesty’s land forces, and especially for their gallant conduct at Rangiriri.
T hat the Speaker do communicate this resolution to Commodore Sir William Wiseman, and that he be requested to signify the same to the officers, seamen, and marines under his command.
That the thanks of this House be given to Major General Galloway, for the important services he has rendered in the organization and command of colonial forces. And (his House acknowledges and highly approves of the zeal and conduct of the officers, non-commissioned officers, and privates of the Colonial horces who have been engaged on actual service during the present struggle, and recognizes with great satisfaction the gallantry they have shown on every occasion on which they have come in conflict with the eneniy. That the Speaker do communicate this Resolution to Major-General Galloway, and that he be requested to signify the same to the officers and men of the colonial forces.
That this House records its admiration of the conduct and valour of those of her Majesty’s Imperial and colonial forces who have fallen, and who have been wounded in the present struggle, and expresses its deep sympathy with the sufferers, and with the relatives and friends of those who have perished in the service of their country.
