Suicide. —lnformation reached tovn on Wednesday last that a man named Benstead, generally known by the name of “Chips,” had destroyed himselfbycuttinghisthroatwith a tomahawk,onthestation of Mr. M’Lean, at Maraekakaho. It is stated that deceased was addicted to drinking, and that ho committed the fatal act whilst in a state of delirium tremens.
