LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
During Major \\ hitmore’s absence at Auckland, which is not likely to exceed three weeks, the command of the Militia and Volunteers of the 'Province will devolve upon Capt. Lambert ; and Mr. Cooper, E.M., will act as Deputy Civil Comsioner.
We wish to draw the attention of the sporting fraternity of the Province to an advertisement in our issue of to-day, announcing the event of the Jockey Club Plate of T2OO, to come off at the next Auckland Races.
