TO THE ELECTORS OP THE NAPIER COUNTRY DISTRICTS. GENTLEMEN, —I need make no apology to you for asking your votes for the seat in the Provincial Council, vacated by Capt. Carter upon his acceptance of the olfice of Commissioner of Crown Lands and Treasurer. Matters of a public, nature have assumed such a very alarming aspect, that it is high time we exerted ourselves to the utmost to prevent things going from bad to worse. To Facts and Figures I shall confine myself, in the event of the Electors returning mo. Deeds arc better than words. But I promise you I will make strong efforts to obtain Government grants to aid in securing cheap Education ; while at the same time I shall strenuously oppose the system of borrowing money, and shall vigorously scrutinise all Estimates submitted by tlie Government to the Council. The Land Regulations will require to be re-considered ; you will admit that they are extremely defective. I will only add tiiat I have no intention of accepting any sort of Government appointment, and am not in any way open to Government influence. O. L. W. BOUSFIELD. Woodthorpe, Ist October ISG3.
