AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET,

Mr. Buckiaxd’s reports for the week ending August 21. Mr. Bucldand’s sale at the Haymarket, on Saturday, was not so fully supplied with horse stock as on the previous week. The attendance was good; prices rallied considerably, almost everv horse offered was disposed of, and there was a steady enquiry for good riding horses, adapted for the cavalry. 25 horses were sold. Hay was in full supply, and if of good quality realised £l2 per ton freely.

At the Triangle, on Tuesday, there was a large number of store cattle; prices without variation. Grown stock, in best condition, much enquired

for. Ewes at the lambing brought 31s. each. At Mr. Simpkins’ sale, on Wednesday, there was not much stock, but these were of choice quality. Dairy cows brought from £lB to £23 10s. each ; heifers, from £ll to £l7 ss. each. At Newmarket, on Thursday, there was a fair supply of fat cattle, a few head sold at higher rates, but the greater number were something easier in price than the previous week ; store cattlo| were in limited numbers, and sold higher. Dairy cows at the calving were plentiful and in demand, bringing from £ll to £lB 10s.: averaging £l4 7s. (id. each. The sheep market was better supplied with fat stock than for the past fortnight. Prices without variation. A mixed Hock of ewes and hoggets brought 2Gs. 6d. each. A large number of pigs of rather coarse quality met with a good sale. Young store pigs sold very low. 77 head of fat cattle, 17 dairy cows, 31 head of store cuttle, 131 fat sheep, 178 store sheep, and 55 pigs wore sold.
