AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. [Reports for the week ending August 7 ] MR. ALFRED BUCKLAXD’S REPORT. Mr. Alfred Buckland reports a large supply of horse stock on Saturday last. Best quality continue in demand, and prices are rising, but the greater number offering are very inferior, and bring but nominal rales; first class draught brought from £6O to £9O each ; second class draught horses, but little enquiry for ; strong riding horses sold freely, bringing from £3O to £ls each ;36 horses were sold. Hay was scarce, and sold higher, bringing from £8 to £l2 per ton. At the Triangle, on Tuesday, there was a fair supply of store stock ; prices obtained were higher than the previous Thursday; the hoggetts brought 245. each ; 79 head of cattle, and 72 sheep were sold. At Newmarket, on Thursday, there was a fair supply of fat cattle and dairy cows, and but few store cattle. Prices realised considerably on last week’s quotations, particularly for dairy cows. A few pens of store sheep, and an indifferent supply of fat cattle ; pigs were in fair numbers, and of good quality best fat cattle sold higher than the previous week, 40s. per head ; dairy cows were of good quality, and sold freely at from 20s. to 30s. advance over last sales, and a team of oxen brought £45 each ; of prime butcher’s sheep there were none offering; 164 Merino wethers, a portion of the Claude llamiltoris' cargo, averaged 255. 6d. each ; ewes from the coast, 265. each, 115 head of cattle, 401 sheep, and 45 pigs were sold.
