LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
The Militia. —From General Government Gazettes published on the 4th and 6th instant, we perceive that the Militia have been called out in the several districts of Napier, Wellington, Wanganui, and Wairarapa. In the case of the Napier Militia it has been fixed that, within three months from date, the first and second class shall be trained at two hours a day for 21 days ; in the case of the other districts for two hours a day for 14 days. By a Provincial Government Gazette published on Wednesday last, the men of the first and second classes within the limits, of the Township of Napier only are called upon to assemble at the Military Parade Ground on the Ist of August next. Another E.M. for Hawke’s Bay. —By a recent Gazette we see that James Hunter Campbell, Esq., has been appointed a Resident Magistrate in this Province.
