AT A PUBLIC MEETING, called by adverJjl tisement, of persons disposed to participate in the movement in progress for the erection of a National Monument to the memory of Daniel O’Connell, held at the Stau Hotel, Napier, on Monday the Ist of June, — It was moved by Mr. John Buchanan, seconded by Mr. Doherty, and carried unanimously,— “[That this meeting cordially sympathises with the movement in Ireland and elsewhere, having for its object the erection of some suitable Monument to the memory of Daniel O’Connell; and •resolves that subscriptions bo taken at once, and lists for the receipt of further sums be now left with Mr. Maney at the Meanco Hotel, and with Mr. M’Nalty at the Star Hotel, Napier, who with Mr. James Doherty be appointed a Committee to remit the sums so subscribed to the Dublin Committee.” Mr. Buchanan was appoinjpd Hon.
