AT A PUBLIC MEETING, called by advertisement, of persons disposed to participate in the movement in progress for the erection of a National Monument to the memory of Daniel O’Connell, held at the Star Hotel, Napier, on Monday the Ist of June,— It was moved by Mr. John Buchanan, seconded by Mr. Doherty, and carried unanimously,— “That this meeting cordially sympathises with the movement in Ireland and elsewhere, having for its object the erection of some suitable Monument to the memory of Daniel O'Connell: and resolves that subscriptions bo taken at once, and lists for the receipt of further sums bo now left with Mr. Maney at the Meanee Hotel, and with Mr. M Jvalty at tlie Star Hotel, Napier, who with Mr. James Doherty be appointed a Committee to remit the sums so subscribed to the Dublin Committee.” Mr. Buchanan was appointed Hon. Treasurer.
