April 29 — Lord Ashley, s.s., 296 tons, Randall, for Auckland, with part of original cargo from the South. —Maltby & Co., agents. The s.s. Wonga Wonga, Capt. Cellum, from Napier arrived in port yesterday morning. She brings upwards of 100 bales of wool and several passengers. We regret to state that one of the crew, named John Clark, fell overboard and was unfortunately drowned, between Cape Turnagain and Castle Point about midnight on Sunday last. He had gone out to furl the jib, and in returning to the deck it is supposed that he missed his footing and fell overboard. The vessel was immediately stopped and a life buoy thrown over, but nothing was geen of him. We understand that the unfortunate man came out here as a seaman in the barque Constance a few months since, and left her at this port, this being his first trip in the Wonga Jfonga. — Spectator, April 22.
