Passengers,—Messrs. Hawker, Matthews, and W. Lockwood.—Gr. E. G. Richardson, agent. April I— Excelsior , schooner, 52 tons, W. Mcildejohn, from Porirua, with 40,000 ft. timber, Stuart & Co.—G. E. G. Richardson, agent. bailm). April 2 —George Canning , barque, 411 tons, Capt Harris, for Callao, in ballast. April 4— Gipsy, ketcb, Baxter, for Wairoa, with 2,COOft. timber, 90 bushels maize, 1 ton onions, 6 cwt. apples. Passengers,—Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence. The Effort is expected to leave the Wiroa for Auckland within a week, a number of Maories intend proceeding by her with the intention of purchasing a larger vessel for the purpose of trading on the coast. The George Canning sailed for Callao in ballast with a fair breeze, on Thursday, about 10-30 p.m. Were every English ship discharged with the despatch she has had, it would be a credit to this port. The dig of Melbourne is daily expected from Wellington to load with sheep for the Province of Otago.
