AN ACT to authorize the Superintendent to raise a Loan for the purchase of Native Land for promoting Immigration to the Province, and for other purposes. HEREAS it is expedient that the purchase of Land, Immigration, and certain Public Works hereinafter specified should be carried on by means of a Loan to be raised upon the security of and charged upon the Public Revenue of the Province: Be it .therefore Enacted, by the Superintendent of the said Province, by and with the consent of the Provincial Council thereof, as follows: 1. The Superintendent, by and with the advice of his Executive Council, may borrow on debentures under the Public Seal of the Province, any sum or sums not exceeding in the whole the sum of £ , for defraying the cost of the different undertakings and Purposes specified in the first Schedule hereunto annexed to the amount therein set forth for each separate undertaking and purpose. 2. The Superintendent, with such advice as aforesaid, may take up such sum or sums at any one time, or from time to time, as the occasion may require or to him, with such advice as aforesaid, may appear expedient. 3. The Interest to be paid on such sum or sums shall not exceed the rate of £ for every one hundred pounds by the year, L The repayment of such sum or sums, and the interest thereon, shall be a first charge upon the public Revenue of the Province, 5. The Debentures shall be issued for sums of £SO and £IOO and shall be in the form set forth in the second Schedule hereunto annexed, 6. The Debentures shall be made payable at a period of fifteen years from the date thereof respectively. 7. The Interest on the Debentures shall be paid half-yearly at the Provincial Treasury in Napier, SCHEDULE 1.
