IN PURSUANCE of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” I, John Curling, Esq., Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the Town of Napier, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a Writ bearing date the 18th day of March, 1863, issued under the hand of His Honor the Superintendent of Hawke’s Bay, an election will be held for the return of ONE qualified person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay for the said Electoral District in the room of John .Alexander Smith, Esquire, in consequence of his seat having been vacated by his acceptance of a seat in the Executive Council of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, and that the nomination of Candidates will take place at the Resident Magistrate’s Court-house, at Noon, on Thursday, the 26th day of March, 1863, and that the Poll (if necessary) will take place on Friday, the 27th day of March, 1863, and that I will declare the same at its close, at the said Court house.
