LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.

The Late Earthquake.— One of our inland settlers informs us that considerable damage has been done by the earthquake of last,Monday morning. The shocks appear to have been even more severe in the Southwestern portions of the Province than in Napier. The residences of Captain Newman, (Arlington station), and Mr. Harding (Mount Vernon) are said to be much injured. Mr. Smith’s Inn (Abbotsford) was shook off the blocks. Some of the bridges are much damaged, and some large cracks have opened, ■and extend some distance through the fern hills.
