Voi.txti:i:u Fokces, Avstuaua.—An account moved for in Parliament by Lord Elcho, shows that in Xew South Wales, in the year 18(11, the sum of £IO,OOO was voted for the Public funds in aid of the Volunteer force in (hat colony. Above half this sum was expended in clothing for 1,500 men at £3 10s. each. In Victoria the estimate this year for public expenditure on the Volunteer force is £OO,IOB. Clothing absorbs £I,OOO, prizes £3,000 drill instructors receive £7,000. And the pay of the staff, adjutants and sergeant-major accounts lor much of the residue. In Tasmania in a. year and three-quarters the expenditure from the public funds on the Volunteer force has been £3,080. In South Australia for the present year it is fixed at £0,162: in Queensland £'Boo. In W cstern Australia the arms and accoutrements are furnished bv (ho Government.
