Mr. Danvers reports the attendance at his horse sale, on Saturday, last to have been very numerous. Eight horses passed the hammer, namely, one at £25, two at £2O, tilly £lO, Blacklock, £l6 10s, gelding £l7 10s, Darkic—Draught gelding £24, Hector light geldings £6 12s ;—the age being £lB. There has of late been little done in horse flesh ; so this sale may be taken as having passed off satisfactorily. ; The Y hut fetched £l6 ; and some second-hand saddles from 21s. to £3 15s. The sale of furniture &c. at Mr. Donaldson’s commenced at 2 o’clock, when everything was quitted at satisfactory prices and with spirited competition. An harmonium fetched £l4, and two horses £l2 and £l7 10s. AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET. Mr. Alfred Buckland’s sales during the present month have been fully supplied with store cattle principally by imports from Napier, Wellington, and Wanganui, and a considerable number from our own outposts. Sales have averaged above 300 bead per week. Those large numbers, together witli the dry season, and near approach of summer, have considerably lowered our prices, which are now fully £3 per head for grown cattle lower than they were at the commencement of the month. The supply of fat cattle has been ‘principally from the neighbourhood, and altogether easier in price. There is not so great a decline as on the stove stock (with the exception of large coarse animals) the difference will not exceed 30s. per head. The sheep market on the contrary, has been very bare of stock, and prices have ruled high. But few store shoe]) have been brought forward, ami fat sheep and lambs scarcely equal to the requirements of the market ; but shearing being now nearly completed, lower rates may be anticipated. Newmarket, November 22nd, ISG2. Mr Alfred Buekland reports that his sales during the last fortnight has been well supplied with stock of all kinds. Attendance numerous, but prices continue to decline. The cargo of the Fanny A. Garriyues , from Wellington, averaged £7 10s. each, but the loss by death waslarge, 38 only arrived to market out of 101 head shipped. The cattle of the Heron, from Wanganui 1 a mixed cargo of grown cattle, including a largo proportion of steers many of them but realized £9 ss. each. The cargo of 4hc Kiwi, from Mongonui, 20 bead averaged near £lO each, the two largest oxen bringing £l9 10s. and £2O respectively. The Excelsior from Napier brought a cargo of well-bred stock, principally steers, those averaged '£o 10s. each. Theaverago for similar cargoes in thepreeeding months was at last 50s. in excess of those quotations. Dry weather continues, and there is every probablity of a further decline in prices until the autumn rains. Fat cattle are also lower in price—those of large size from £1 to £5; on medium size of prime quality the difference is not so great; but with that exception the decline is from 30s. to 40s. per head. Up to the present week slice]) have arrived to the market but slowly; but the arrival of three cargoes from Napier with a larger supply from the neighbourhood, gave, the market on Thursday an animated appearance about 1,200 were penned. Those of best quality maintained their previous prices. The cargo of merino wethers, ex Queen, brought 30s. each. For those by the Victoria (show wethers), but 20s. 6d. was offered, one pen was sold, the rest were withdrawn. Fat lambs arc brought forward slowly, and sell well, bringing from 15s. to 20s. Horse stock does not maintain its late prices, large numbers arc being brought forward, but excepting unbroken draft stock or warranted horses, the prices obtained are low.— Kew Zealander December 6.
