G. E. G. Richardson, agent. Owixg- to the arrivals since our last, and the vessels already in port, the Spit has had a busyshipping week. On Thursday we had the Victoria from Auckland, which port she left on the 31st, and had fine weather during the run down. The Sea Serpent also made her appearance from Wellington, having left that port on the 28th ult. She called at While Rock and Castle Point on her way up. On Friday the brigantine Esther also arrived from Wellington, after a spanking run of 48 hours. On Sunday morning, the Queen, steamer, came to her anchorage at an early hour.

'The Rats, 26 tons, W. Owen, sailed from Auckland for Napier, with 40 tons firewood, on the 29th ult. The Fxcelsior, arrived at Auckland on the 31st ult., with 32 head of cattle. We learn from a private source that the Wild Duck, Captain Bishop, was to leave for Wellington not later than the sth September, when she would leave with a full cargo, and a large number of passengers. We likewise learn that the John Dunyan will not visit us again, as she has been withdrawn from this, and placed in the New York trade.— Advertiser. The fine Intercolonial Royal Mail steamer Claude Hamilton, intended for the transport of the New Zealand mails, arrived in Sydney on the 19th September, after having been one hundred and ten days on the voyage. H.M.S.S. Fawn, 17 guns, returned from Wellington on the IGth instant with His Excellency the Governor Sir George Grey, K.C.B. Commander Sullivan who had been some time in Auckland, waiting the sloop’s arrival, proceeded on board forthwith and read his commission in supercession of Captain Sir Malcolm MacGregor, Bart., promoted, and who leaves for Sydney, by the present mail. The Harrier is the only individual of Her Majesty’s ships in these seas which has been on this station for many months. She is undergoing a thorough overhaul.— New Zealander, Oct. 31.
