AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
Mr. Alfred Buckland reports that sales of cattle during the past month have been largo. Prices have been firmer towards the end of the month, and are likely to still further increase. Among the spring months best fat cattle have realised 60s. the lOOlbs. Store cows fetched from £lO 10s. to £ll-; steers, from £9 to £ls ; yearlings, from £5 to £7 10s. ; and calves, £4 to £5 each. Considerable demand for sheep. Fat sheep very scarce, and bringing 8d per lb. Ewes and lambs, 3Ss to 53s the couple ; hoggets, 23s to 2Gs each ; Merino wethers, cargo of Queen from Napier, from 29s to 34s each. —Southern Cross, October 6.
