Melting ov the Provincial Council.—
By a Gazette issued on Tuesday last, we see that the Council is to meet on the 25th hist. Wo are given to understand that the reason of its being called together is to reconsider a resolution passed by them last session, raising the price of ss. land, and altering the mode of sale. Are they going to undo what oust, them so much time to do ?—or is it to meet the convenience of a few* ? Government Salaries. —It -appears from the Government return that the salaries of officers of the various Provincial Governments in ISGI amounted as follows; —Auckland. A 10,029 IGs. 5d., and fees retained as perquisites, amounting to £302 18s. 3d.; New Plymouth AB2O ; Wellington, 918.197 19s. Gd.; Hawke's Bay, £5741; Nelson, £7193, aud fees retained as perquisites, £314 17s. Gd. ; Marlborough, £3418; Canterbury, £14,351 13s. 3d.; Otago, £33,788 19s. Gd.; Southland, £5472 2s. Gd.
