extraordinary find. Testerday morning .Mr. Dwrt and two of liis partners, Messrs. Poole and E. J. Morgan, came to town in the cutter ‘ Mary Alison, Captain Mclmnan, bringing with them the largest specimen of gold that has ever come Imm Coromoudel. The specimen was dug out of claim No. 15, in which, a few days since, Mr. Dwrt struck a reef yielding by assay, at the rale of 199 ozs. 2 uwt. 2 grs. per ton of quartz. The find was made on Thursday last. The specimen weighs 11 ihs. 2 ozs. The lucky finders desire ns to ,-ay they have named it the VIC—TOLTA NUGGET, in lionor of her Majesty the Queen, the acknowledgment of those sovereignty over Coromandel has been followed so soon afterwards by a prolific yield of gold. The 1 icturia Nugget is smaller than the "Welcome Nugget, but weighs 1 ihs. 9 ozs. more. The stone has never travelled. It is full of fissures, and the sharp edges have not been rubbed oil’, proving that it is part of the reef, tlie leader to which was struck, as we have stated, a few days ago. The gold is deep coloured, and of greater value than that of the leader tested by Mr. Dwrt. To all appearances the stone will yield 7 ihs. of gold. This claim was abandoned by the first party as not worth anything. —Southern Cross.
