LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
Ox Dit.— The courts of bis majesty King Point rui have had rather a delicate question in hand lately no less than a case of cri ninal conviction, the male delinquent being one of the most inllucntial chiefs of Kgatikahunkunu, and the lady a widow whose spouse fell in the war between Ilapuku and Moanamii sonic four or five years ago. The ease was adjudicated at Pawhakaairo on the 21st inst. a heavy penalty being inilieted on both delinquents. Under what other sovereign save the King of the Cannibal 1 slands would a widow lady be lined heavily for her part in such a transaction ?—Communicated.
