We beg to remind our readers that one of the most important book sales ever held in » Napier will take place to-morrow (Friday,) erroneously advertized for to-day, at Mr. Janisch’s stores at the Spit. Particulars will be found in our advertizing columns. St. John’s Church.—Abbotsford.— Waipawa.—This new church was opened for Divine Service, by the Bishop of Wellington, on Sunday, the Gth hist., at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. A large and respectable congregation was present, numbering nearly a hundred, who had assembled (many of them) from a considerable distance. His Lordship preached an impressive sermon from the S4th Psalm, the Ist aiid following verses. A meeting of the Building Committee was held on the Saturday previous, which the Bishop attended. The state of the funds was proved to be on the whole satisfactory, munificent additions having been made by tire Bishop, Mrs. Tomlin, of Ware, Hertfordshire, England, andE. Abbott, Esq., of Gloucester Gardens, Hyde Park, London. A subscription is being made by the neighbouring settlers to provide a permanent stipend for a * Besidout Clergyman, to be appointed when the lists arc closed by the Bishop.— Com.
