PROCLAMATION,
By John Chilton Lamltox Carter, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Hawke s Bay, in the Islands of New Zealand. By tin Act of the General Asembly of New Zealand, intituled “ The Provincial Beserves Bills Act, 1858,” it is provided (hat no Bill reserved for (he signification of the Governor's pleasure shall have any force within the Province, until the Superintendent shall signify as therein specified, that it has been laid before tire Governor, amt that his Excellency has assented to the same; And whereas an Ad. intit tiled “Provincial Auditors' Salaty Act” was passed ly (lie Provincial Council of Hawke's Bay during its Fi.urth Session, but reserved by me for the Signification of the Governor's pleasure thereon. Now therefore I. John Chilton Lamhton Carter, Bo hereby Proclaim and Notify that the above-mentioned Act has been duly laid efore liis Excellency the Governor, and having Beceived liis Assent, is, under the Provisions of the Act of the General Assembly before referred to, in I-'em* within the Province of Hawke's Bay from the date of this Proclamation. A Kovel Feat.—At the Bellevue Grounds, Blackburn, recently. Bichard Manks undertook in one hour to run one mile, to run a wheelbarrow one mile to jump a mile (in a sack), to rim a ooaeh-wheel a mile, tied up in a sack to pick up 20 eggs a yard apart, to hop on the log 200 yards, to wheel -iOst. 100 yards, and lastly throw 15(5 501 b. weights over his head. These feats were done in 2 min. 30 sec. under the time, to the great surprise of the visitors.
