Notice to Advertisers. milE HAWKE’S BAY TIMES is published —every Thursday, and in order to secure for it an extensive circulation no exertion will be spared to effect this desideratum. It will contain the latest Commercial, Shipping, Local, and General Yews, the state of the Markets, and other intelligence. Advertisers will, therefore, find the Hawke’s Bat Times a desirable medium for making then* wants known to the public, and the commercial portion of the community will find it advantageous in giving notice of Merchandise, Produce, Stock, &c., for sale. The Terms of Advertising in the Hawke’s Bat Times arc—Threepence per hue for the first insertion, and for each suhsecutivc one, half price. Advertisements should be left at the office not later than twelve o’clock on Wednesdays for publication the following day, and shoidd contain the number of times they arc intended to bo inserted. Advertisements not containing this notification ■will be continued and charged for until countermanded. Orders for the withdrawal of advertisements should bo sent not later than Monday to ensure attention in the next publication. _ Terms of Subscription : —Twelve shillings and sixpence per half year, payable in advance ; single copy, sixpence. ITIHE Registration Officer publishes the follow_L ing for public information : The declaration formerly required to be made before a Justice of the Peace can now be made before a freeholder or householder; and instead of limiting the declarations to the’ month of March, they can now be made and the forms sent 'in during January, February, and March. This is provided for in the following clauses : 1. The short title of this Act shall bo “ The Registration of Electors’ Act ISDB .Amendment Act 1561.” 2. The said Form No. 1 and Form No. 2 shall he held to be erased from the said Act, and in lieu thereof the following form shall bo substituted, and the claim and declaration hereinafter referred to shall be contained in one Form, in the words or to the effect following, that is to say— To the Registration Officer of the Electoral District of I hereby give you notice that I claim to have my name inserted in the list of voters for the said Electoral District, and that the particulars of my place of abode and qualification arc truly stated in the colums below. Attested by E. F., freeholder (or householder) of the colony. (Signed) C. D. 3. Any claim as aforesaid in the said Form signed by the claimant (and attested by a freeholder or householder of the colony) shall have the same validity and effect as if the claim and declaration sot forth in the Schcdidc to the said Act had been duly made by such claimant in manner contained in the said Act ; and any person who knowingly and wilfully shall make any such claim falsely shall forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding £2O, to be recovered in a summary way before a Resident Magistrate, together with one or more Justices of the Peace. 4. And whereas by 7 Section V. of the said Registration of Electors’ Act it is enacted, that no such claim or declaration as therein mentioned shall bo received, unless it be given in the month of March in the year in which it is preferred, and it is expedient to enlarge the tunc for receiving such claims and declarations : Be it enacted, that all such claims and declarations may be received if given in the months of January, February, or March of the said year.
