From Melbourne wo have News to the 27th December:—
Monday 8 p.m. Twenty of the "Victorian cricketers are already selected for the match with the All-England Eleven as followers Bryant, Stewart, Marshall, Wardell, Makinson, J. B. Thompson, J. Mace, Wray, K. Mace, Butterworth, Costick, Lister, Hamilton, Morris, Conway, Elliott, Sweeney, Resnie, Huddleston, and Hopkinaon. Eight reserved men are selected, from which to take the remaining two. Tuesday, 7 p.m. Geeat reception given to the All-England Eleven. The Railway Pier was thronged. Melbourne cricket mad. Thursday, 6 p.m. The English Eleven practised on the Richmond ground, and showed splendid-play. Tasmania.-Swearing-in the New Governor.On the 11th ultimo, Colonel Browne was sworn inas Governor of Tasmania, with the usual formalities.
